Hindu factionalism and Vedic Dharma 1

Indian politicians remained as promiscuous as Shiladitya of Khanwa, who surrendered Rajput independence to the Mughal rule for a bargain.

If we look at India’s history through the lens of foreign invasion, warfare, and constant changing of the ruling dispensation, one thing becomes abundantly clear; that contemporary Hindu society is extremely faction-ridden. The attitude of the rulers were at best region-centric (concerning only their fiefdom, or at worst outright of a self-seeking meanness) that often led to catastrophic consequences.

The most glaring was the saga of the Rajput factions. From Samrat Prithvi raj Chouhan to the Maharana Pratap, most of the legendary heroes of the Indian defenders were primarily being besieged by the hostility of the fellow Rajput Kings. Such was the state of the political affairs of the then Rajputana.

For example, let's look at the Battle of Khanwa. In that important battle between Rajput king Rana Sangha and Mughal invader Babur, the act of treachery of Rana Shiladitya of Malwa made way for the disastrous Rajput defeat. By noon Rajput was in an advantageous position, pressing to the Mughals despite the laters introduction of the canon, which was deployed first time in Indian warfare scenario. If the act of treachery had not happened, if Shiladitya had not defected to the Mughals with his 35000 strong armies, then who knows maybe the Rajputs would have carried through to the victory.

This one defeat caused India to lose the whole of central India and parts of North-east to the Mughal rule and helped establishment and consolidation of the Mughal Empire in India.

This example is not just one of the few, nor it has happened only in a certain period of Indian history. Not only the Rajputs were the victim of this treacherous behavior. From Alexander’s invasion through the whole of the middle age to the British period and division of India, this faultline of factionalism kept on devouring India piece by piece even to this day!

Even after Independence, if we glare to the state of Indian politics and politicians, the galore of the filthiest form of vote-bank politics, the shamelessness of politicians to pander to the selective groups for votes, the blatant subversion of the state, security makes it abundantly clear, that Indians, especially her politicians never learned any lesson. They remained as promiscuous as Shiladitya of Khanwa, who surrendered Rajput independence to the Mughal rule for a bargain.
